Water-soluble vitamins

Water-soluble vitamins are readily soluble in water and are mostly part of coenzymes, through which they regulate metabolism and maintain proper metabolic and physiological functioning in the body. They are generally not synthesized in the body or only in small amounts and need to be obtained through diet and other means. The body’s store of water-soluble vitamins is small, and when the tissue stores are saturated, excess vitamins are rapidly excreted in the urine. Common water-soluble vitamins include vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, calcium pantothenate, vitamin B6, and folic acid. Vitamin deficiency is a common phenomenon in China and can be detrimental to health in severe cases.
